About Fladry + Jones
Robb Fladry is a new media artist working with kinetic images in a variety of ways, including installation, performance and live video improvisation.
Mr. Fladry has been called “one of the most prominent up and coming artists coming out of the Tennessee area,” and his work was recently featured in the Frist Center for the Visual Arts exhibit Future/Now in Nashville.
His video work has been included in the Perpetual Art Machine in New York City, the BEA Festival for Media Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada and FILE: Rio in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Mr. Fladry holds a BFA in Studio Arts from Austin Peay State University, and a MA in Communication Arts (Theatre) from the same institution. Robb currently resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife Shelley and their cat named Trinket. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Electronic Media at the University of South Florida.
Barry Jones is a digital video artist with far ranging interests in music, the history of film, and new technologies. He earned his BFA in photography at Austin Peay State University, and his MFA in 3d studies at the University of South Carolina.
He is nationally and internationally known for his video installations, and has exhibited works at SPACElab in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Arlington Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia, and in Istanbul, Turkey, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Madrid, Spain.
On a more local level, he was recently featured at the Brooks Museum in Memphis, and he has two digital works in the permanent art base collection of the New Museum of Contemporary Art’s new media branch, Rhizome.
Mr. Jones is an assistant professor at Austin Peay State University. He lives in Clarksville with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Marlena, Aidan and Hope.
Fladry + Jones have performed across the East Coast on their recent Metropolis Remix Tour alongside DJ Black Noise and have created installations based on the performance. They have shared the stage with world renowned DJs Roy Davis, Jr. and Justin Long and continue to bring their unique video show to clubs and non-traditional venues across the South East along with being included in art galleries and museums across the globe.
They are the resident VJs at Studio 1408 in Nashville and have recently completed dance collaborations and the video design for a version of the 1923 playThe Adding Machine, which Fladry directed. Despite being 800+ miles apart, Fladry + Jones continue their unique collabrative effort via the power of the internet.
